Freedom Park at Navy Pier

San Diego, CA

The USS Midway Museum has partnered with the Port of San Diego to develop this 10-acre park with sweeping views of the bay. Commemorative elements, including sculptures, interpretive signage and an interactive web app, will pay tribute to the sacrifices made by the armed forces and inspire every day heroes. The park incorporates playful elements that encourage rest, relaxation and recreation for families and tourists alike. The park is expected to open in spring 2027.

Completed as Studio Director, Project Executive, and Creative Lead with G&A Strategy & Design. Liza worked hand-in-hand with the client to develop the vision and mission for the park, as well as the project’s North Star and roadmap within the Interpretive Master Plan. These concepts have been developed into bid documentation, and the project is currently under construction. Liza also assisted in project budgeting, donor strategy, donor solicitation print materials, memorial sculpture artist selection, and the RFP and selection process for the web app partner.
